This course includes practical and theoretical elements relevant to working near water. Delegates will be introduced to industry best practice, focusing upon the avoidance of water hazards and development of safe systems of work. The course also looks at the personal skills necessary to be able to maintain self-inflating lifejackets and buoyancy aids suitable for an industrial environment, as well as how react to a water incident on an individual level with respect to self-rescue and rescue of peers in a bank-based capacity.
This course is aimed at existing, qualified Swiftwater Rescue Technicians (SRT) to develop the skills necessary to assess and conduct rescues from vehicles which have been subject to flooding or immersion. This course looks at the hazards created by the instability of the vehicle and the points of entry to enable casualty extraction.
The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor (SRTI) pathway is designed for emergency services personnel or rescue training professionals who will be teaching clients who need a swiftwater and flood response capability
This course is aimed at those intending to enter the water in a swiftwater or flood rescue scenario as part of a structured rescue response. The training is developed in line with the DEFRA concept of operations for flood and water incidents specifically within Module 3 of their training standards. It applies these in practical training senarios which develops both individual skills and competencies, along with team-based solutions to rescue challenges.
The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Advanced – Water course is for existing Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technicians looking at advanced rescue situations both in and over water including search management in a swiftwater and flood environment. Current Rescue 3 Technicians wanting an advanced rescue capability in water can do the SRTA-W. Those wanting to add rope rescue including steep and vertical banks and over water technical rescue capability can do the SRTA-W&R. Technicians who are working towards their Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor (SRTI) qualification will need to do the SRTA-Water as a prerequisite to their Instructor Training course.
This course introduces the concepts and skills required of those involved in the structured response to a flood or water incident. The Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR) may be deployed in a non-buoyant role in support of a team of Swiftwater Rescue Technicians or in areas where basic shallow water tasks may be conducted where managed risks fall within the capabilities of the SFR personnel.
The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Advanced – Water and Rope course is for people who hold both the Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) and Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) and looking at advanced rescue situations both in and over water including search management in a swiftwater and flood environment.
