The Arizona Vortex is a component based Artificial High Directional (AHD). Commonly used in rope rescue and rope access situations where the rigging requires an anchor point to be created in free space above an edge or in free space over the edge transition. You can use it as a Tripod, A frame or single pole. Because it is a flexible, modular system it is essential that riggers are fully aware of the fundamental principles of how to select it’s build configuration, evaluate the forces generated and assemble and operate it correctly.
Most accidents using AHDs are generated from operator error or lack of training, understanding or competence rather than equipment or system issues. The Arizona Vortex User Workshop 1 course will provide a foundation of knowledge to allow the safe deployment and operation of an AHD in most common use scenarios.
